Dr Debenham was educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University achieving 1st Class honours and Senior Academic Scholarship. He completed medical training at Imperial College School of Medicine, London 2001.

Dr Debenham has training experience of several years in Emergency medicine and Intensive Care Medicine. He has trained in Anaesthesia initially in UK then in Perth, WA. He has fellowships in Obstetric Anaesthesia (King Edward Memorial Hospital) and Airway (Royal Perth Hospital) and has maintained skills in paediatric anaesthesia. He became a Specialist Anaesthetist in 2012.

Dr Debenham also works in senior medical leadership.

He has a wife and three children and is an avid windsurfer, wingfoiler and fairly average surfer and mountain biker.

Dr Debenham is very comfortable being known by his first name, ‘Ed or Edward’.
