Your anaesthetic is individual to you, and takes a number of factors into account. These include:

• Your medical and surgical history
• Your medications
• The surgical procedure planned for you

There are a number of ways that we can be in contact. 

Most often, your surgeon will send us your details when your surgery is booked. We then introduce ourselves by phone, text, or email, and will ask you to complete a preoperative questionnaire. We will also be able to give you some information about billing (noting that the vast majority of patients have no out of pocket expense). This allows your anaesthetist to review your history, request information from other health professionals (if you have consented to it), and to plan the best anaesthetic for you.

We will then be in touch regarding your medications and fasting times. We will also inform you of anaesthetic fees, should there be any.
