All anaesthetists in Australia are fully qualified specialist doctors, who have then undergone a minimum of 5 years of further training. This training is supervised and accredited by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. They have rigorous ongoing education to maintain their knowledge base and skills.
Along with your surgeon or proceduralist, your anaesthetist will:
- Plan your anaesthetic
- Administer anaesthesia, and supervise your safe recovery
- Manage your pain relief and any other complications after your procedure
