Dr Fong graduated from Otago Medical School in New Zealand. He worked for a year in NZ before moving to Perth. He completed his Specialist Anaesthesia Training in Western Australia in 2000.
Dr Fong joined Fremantle Hospital as a full time Staff Anaesthetist and developed an interest in Paediatric Anaesthesia. He was the Department’s IT Officer. He also assisted in the development of the MRI unit in Fremantle Hospital which had a special capability of providing general anaesthesia/sedation for both Adults and Children.
Dr Fong moved to full time Private Practice in 2010. His current practice is based mainly at SJOG at Murdoch and Subiaco, Hollywood Hospital and South Perth Hospital.
Dr Fong has been actively involved with the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA). He has been past WA State Chair (2006-2008). He helped create the State ASA/ANZCA Continuing Medical Education Committee and was an active member until 2017. He is a Deputy Member of the Anaesthetic Mortality Committee in Western Australia.
Paediatrics, Regional Anaesthesia, Colorectal and ENT surgery are among his current special interest areas.
Dr Fong will see and speak with you usually on the day of your surgery. Should your medical history or surgical procedure warrant a pre-operative consultation, this will be arranged by his rooms. Consultations may be in person, by telehealth or telephone.
