Lance graduated with a medical degree from the University of Otago in 1998. He then underwent anaesthetic training in Sydney, achieving his Fellowship in the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in 2007. He has been based in Perth since this time, and anaesthetises for a number of different surgical specialties, including Urology, Orthopaedics, Plastics, Gastroenterology and ENT surgery.
