Michela graduated from Dundee University, Scotland in 2000.
After working in Emergency Medicine, she completed Anaesthetic training in 2009 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Michela first came to Perth in 2008, to complete Airway and Regional Anaesthesia Fellowships at Fremantle Hospital. After concluding her training in the UK, she returned to Perth and completed a further Fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia at Princess Margaret Hospital.
As a Specialist Anaesthetist, Michela has worked at Fiona Stanley Hospital since its opening in 2015. During this time, she developed her interests in anaesthesia for emergency surgery and perioperative management of complex patients undergoing major surgery. She completed a Masters in Perioperative Medicine through Monash University in Melbourne. She is a Member of the Chapter of Perioperative Medicine of the ANZ College of Anaesthetists. She has been Clinical Lead of the Anaesthesia and Perioperative Clinic at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Currently, she is Anaesthesia lead for the Renal Transplant Service.
As well as caring for complex patients in Fiona Stanley, Michela has found balance through one of her other passions. She has been working as an Obstetric Anaesthetist at SJOG Murdoch since 2018.
